Основана в 1964 году в Джерси-Сити (США).[2] Многие годы основными членами группы являются братья Robert Bell (известный как «Kool»; род.1950), играющий на бас-гитаре и Ronald Bell (род.1951), играющий на тенор-саксофоне; лидер-вокалист en:James "J.T." 15 февраля 1979 года получили премию Грэмми-1979 за участие в записи Лучшего альбома года («Saturday Night Fever», на котором звучала их песня «Open Sesame»).
Песня «Summer Madness» звучит на саундтреке Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (и в самой игре при прослушивании радио «Fever 105»). А песня «Hollywood Swinging» была отобрана на саундтрек Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Там она играла во время миссии «Жизнь — это пляж» и звучит на радио Bounce Fm.
